2021 Ford Bronco Sport vs Escape | Size, cargo dimensions, engines and more!
Choosing the right small SUV or crossover can be a challenge. If you’re looking at a small crossover SUV, chances are good that you’re looking at the differences between the Edge and the Escape. They’re both 5 seat SUV’s, have similar engine options and technology.
What are key features of the Bronco Sport?
It features Sync3 across all trim levels – even the base model! The Bronco Sport is boxier, more like the Escape that you’d find in the early 2000’s. This vehicle is built more for the enthusiast who needs a bit more trunk room for those trips outdoors, whether that’s camping or hiking!
The Bronco Sport Badlands trim features the beefier 2.0L EcoBoost engine but also drive modes that make it much more off-road capable than the Escape.
What are key features of the Escape?
The Escape went though it’s facelift year in 2020. The 2021 marked the introduction of some new options – like having the Escape Hybrid lineup now available in the SE trim level. On top of that, Ford has changed a few packaged options and removed the paddle shifters from the Escape lineup.
Having said that, the Escape has a benefit that the Edge doesn’t. 2nd row seats that can slide! That means you can get a few extra inches are cargo space without needing to fold down the 2nd row!
Media Screens
Both the Escape and Bronco Sport are on the Sync3 system which gives you wired Android Auto and Apple Car Play. One exception is the base Escape S model – which is only available with the smaller Sync screen which does not feature CarPlay or give you the option for factory navigation.
Engine options
The Escape has the option for the 1.5L EcoBoost, 2.0L EcoBoost or 2.5L Atkinson Hybrid engine with availability being different across the lineup. The 2021 Bronco Sport has the 1.5L EcoBoost standard in the Base/Big Bend/Outer Banks trim levels while the Badlands features the larger 2.0L EcoBoost! The video below goes over the horsepower/torque spec differences between them
So many configurations!
The Escape has the option for the S/SE/SE/Titanium trim levels. Each trim has unique features – an example of each.. The Escape SE has a manual liftgate while the Titanium has a foot activated, power liftgate. The 2021 Bronco Sport has the Base/Big Bend/Outer Banks/Badlands with a number of great options when you go for the more off-road capable Badlands trim.
